Mangia!
a home cooking and restaurant review blog
About Mangia!
"Mangia! Mangia!" - a phrase I heard often growing up, especially from my Italian grandmother who was always wanting us to Eat! Eat! The name of this blog is an homage to my family of wonderful cooks - my original taste testers, and biggest fans.
I always joke that my sister received all the artistic genes in the family, but I am realizing that while I cannot draw or paint for the life of me, my food is my art. I love the satisfaction I get from seeing those happy faces around me, eating whatever I have prepared. I honestly feel that food tastes better when you put some love into it.
I enjoy trying new recipes, experimenting with flavors, and just having fun in the kitchen. My motto is "cook like you don't have to clean" - of course those dishes won't clean themselves, but I don't worry about them when I'm in creation mode. A rave review is always worth it.
Through this blog, I will document the culinary adventures in my home kitchen as well as post reviews and pictures from restaurant date nights out on the town in our new home, the Seacoast of New Hampshire. While some of the recipes in here will be more "weekender" meals and a labor of love, I can assure you I do not cook like that every night! There will be a good mix of every day, weeknight dinners, and other recipes that are reserved for special occasions or days when you have some more time on your hands.
